On April 9th local time, Trump posted on social media again, announcing that tariffs on imported goods from China would be raised from 104% to 125%, effective immediately. And it stated that this move is a response to China's "lack of respect" in the global market. At the same time, the implementation of "equivalent tariffs" on 75 trading partner countries will be suspended for 90 days, with the tax rate reduced to 10%.
Prior to this, on the evening of April 9th, the General Administration of Customs issued Announcement No. 58 of 2025 regarding the implementation of measures to impose tariffs on imported goods originating in the United States. According to the announcement, starting from 12:01 pm on April 10, 2025, an additional 84% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating in the United States on top of the current applicable tariff rate.
